Цератины ( лат. Ceratina ) — один из крупнейших родов пчёл из семейства Apidae ( , ранее в отдельном семействе Anthophoridae), включающий более 380 видов.

Распространение

Космополитный род. Встречается повсеместно, во всех зоогеографических областях . В Австралии наименьшее число видов .

Биология

Гнездятся в ветвях кустарников и стеблях сухих растений с мягкой сердцевиной.

Характеристика

Обычно мелкие пчёлы, тело у большинства видов с зеленовато-синим металлическим блеском (иногда чёрное) и грубой скульптурой. Слабоопушенные. Длина тела от 3 до 15 мм .

Ceratina это обычно тёмные, блестящие, даже металлические пчелы, с довольно редкими волосками на теле и слабыми корзиночками на задних голенях. У большинства видов есть жёлтые отметины, чаще всего ограниченные лицом, но часто и другими участками тела. Их очень часто принимают за пчел" семейства Halictidae из-за их небольшого размера, металлической окраски и некоторого сходства в жилковании крыльев; их можно легко отделить от галиктид ротовым аппаратом (с длинной глоссой) и задними крыльями (с крохотной югальной долей) .

Некоторые виды Ceratina являются исключительными среди пчёл в том смысле, что они партеногенетические , размножаются без самцов .

Систематика

Более 380 видов в 23 подродах . Вместе с родом (1 вид M. bouyssoui Vachal, 1903; или подрод в составе Ceratina ) образует трибу (или монотипическую с одним родом Ceratina ) в составе подсемейства . Известен ископаемый вид † из эоцена Флориссанта (США) возрастом около 35 млн лет (Cockerell 1906) .

Гименоптеролог Michener (2007) выделял только один род в составе трибы Ceratinini, включая 21 подрод, из которых 16 подродов эндемики восточного полушария и 5 подродов эндемики западного полушария . Энтомолог Terzo et al. (2007) недавно выделил ещё один подрод Dalyatina, а систематики Eardley and Daly (2007) описали восемь новых видов и признали 30 синонимов в Южной Африке без уточнения подродового положения многих видов из-за отсутствия общей ревизии Ceratina . Ранее также придавали родовой статус подродам (Hirashima, 1971), (Klug, 1807) и (Daly, 1988) из-за их морфологических отличий.
