Уильям Альфред Вебер ( англ. William Alfred Weber , 16 ноября 1918 — 18 марта 2020) — американский ботаник и миколог , почётный профессор Колорадского университета в Боулдере .

Биография

Уильям Альфред Вебер родился в 1918 году .

Вебером был предложен первый вариант системы трёхбуквенных обозначений названий семейств сосудистых растений в статье « Mnemonic three-letter acronyms for the families of vascular plants: a device for more effective herbarium curation », опубликованной в 1982 году в журнале « Taxon » (том 31, стр. 74—88). После этого система дорабатывалась как самим Вебером , так и другими ботаниками, среди которых можно выделить американца Нейла Сноу, сотрудника Bishop Museum , Гонолулу , США .

Уильям Альфред Вебер внёс значительный вклад в ботанику, описав множество видов растений .

Научная деятельность

Уильям Альфред Вебер специализировался на Мохообразных , семенных растениях и на микологии .
