Гарри Элмер Барнз ( англ. Harry Elmer Barnes ; 15 июня 1889 , Оберн , Нью-Йорк — 25 августа 1968 , Малибу , Калифорния ) — американский историк и социолог .

Биография

Первоначально работал в области всеобщей истории, почти вся его карьера была связана с Колумбийским университетом . Во время Первой мировой войны был сторонником вступления США в войну на стороне Антанты против Германии , но в конце 1930-х годов начал защищать внешнюю политику Германии и до конца жизни относился с симпатией к нацистскому режиму ^{[ уточнить ]} .

До Второй мировой войны Барнз успел получить признание в научном мире и высокие академические достижения, но позже оказался вне научного сообщества ввиду своих прогерманских взглядов и последующего отрицания Холокоста , одним из основоположников которого он являлся. Отрицание Холокоста Барнза сформировалось на основе мифа о том, что большинство евреев уцелело, переехав в другие страны. В 1968 году Барнс обвинил Израиль в получении денег от Германии за вымышленные еврейские трупы .

После 1945 года ни один издатель не хотел публиковать работы Барнза, поэтому он издавал их на собственные средства.
