Биография

Отец — ашанти Джозеф Эммануэль Аппиа, дипломат, в 1977—78 годах представлял Гану в ООН, мать — англичанка Пегги Криппс, оба аристократического происхождения. Детство провёл в Кумаси , получил среднее и высшее образование в Англии.

Мать — британская аристократка , урождённая Криппс, дочь Стаффорда Криппса .

С 2014 года является профессором философии Нью-Йоркского университета .
