Пестряки́ ( лат. Cleridae ) — семейство насекомых из отряда жесткокрылых .

Описание

Яркие красивые жуки с пестрой окраской ( Пестряк пчелиный ). Длина тела от нескольких миллиметров до примерно двух сантиметров. Усики булавовидные или пиловидные, состоят из 11 сегментов. Взрослых насекомых можно встретить на цветах зонтичных и сложноцветных растений. Большинство видов хищники на стадии имаго и на стадии личинок. Живут в ходах древесных жуков-ксилофагов, в гнёздах пчёл и ос .

Распространение

Жуки-пестряки обнаружены в Америке, Африке, Европе, Азии и в Австралии. Всего в мире известно около 3500 видов. В Северной Америке около 500 видов .

Палеонтология

Древнейшие пестряки были найдены в отложениях средней юры Китая . Представители семейства известны также из верхней юры Монголии, балтийского янтаря и олигоценовых отложений США .

Систематика

Относится к надсемейству Клероидные ( Cleroidea Latreille, 1802 ) из серии семейств Кукуйиформные (Cucujiformia, =Chrysomelomorpha).
